Golden Inquisition

Roles & Positions

The Golden Inquisition is led by the Golden Father, with the commanding Grand Inquisitor abiding by his command, to safeguard the Familiar Lands from Unfamiliar influence and anything else heretical. Due to Authority's strength and influence, the Golden Inquisition holds the most power within Avalon and Great Europa; however, in areas where he holds less influence, like the Jade Empire, the inquisition holds little to no power.

They see many actions as heretical and against Authority's plan, including any actions or relationships with Outsiders, excluding the culling of them; if one were to be exposed to a greater outsider influence, such as a Wrathbreak, they'd be listed under inspection as well for potential outsider influence. Those unregistered are also viewed with hatred by the Inquisition; only those registered by the academy, after careful inspection and deemed fit among the peasants, will be allowed; however, they'll be treated on a par with refugees.

The Inquisition is known to hire mercenaries and set them out on tasks; from assigning them to slay unfamiliar influence within an area, to sending them to the Abyssal Hollow to discover what is within and retrieve it back for the Inquisition; instead of letting their hands get dirty. When they are unable to find a solution or cure to a problem, they'll use fire as the final solution when all else fails.

Within the Inquisition, there exist branches of the Inquisition, each with a purpose to maintain Authority's plan:

Inquisitors

These are those within the Golden Inquisition set out to maintain balance through actions such as questioning the locals for any outsider influences, as well as those who'll cure, solve, or burn—whatever the Grand Inquisitor believes is the best action for a potentially heretical area.

Witch Hunters

Temperance witch hunters that are set out when the problem relates to a rogue mage. They are given state-sanctioned Avalicite shackles to detain the mage, as well as flintlocks if they try to evade being contained.

Exalted

Blessed through the blood of Authority, each exalted has a purpose within the Golden Inquisition that they'll do with vigor; they are set out only once other actions have failed, or the task is dire, like the threat of a Trespasser or Greater Unfamiliar.
