Abyssal Hollow
Regions
A shard of the Unfamiliar Lands that now resides in the Familiar Lands, a cancer merging the 2 realms together. With much land above water, but due to being part of the Unfamiliar Lands many of the outsiders are within, often in the depths, be it Faceless or Trespassers. As well as cavities similar to those from Wrathbreaks and undying necromorphs simply called the Deathless, beings that even when cut into a thousand pieces will still live, only burning all the pieces afterwards will truly kill them. Some believe the Abyssal Hollow sprouted after the city of Qilptoth sank, others think it was always a part of the familiar lands, regardless it remains, with no one knowing how.
So far, all attempts at colonization or diplomacy have failed, despite this the nobles are still setting up expeditions to the island, often sending Slave Knights to do their bidding. Few of these knights ever return however, and said few usually come back horrified, scarred by the terrors they have experienced. Even the Golden Inquisition funds expeditions, despite seeing all within the Hollow as heresy, as they wish to study its anomalies and harvest its resources to aid their everlasting war with the Unfamiliars.
It's been discovered that anyone that dies in the Abyssal Hollow won't truly die, even if their head's chopped off they will eventually regain consciousness. Those that have died or were supposed to die here also have an unnatural desire to reach its center, a task that no one has ever achieved. Those who survived its perils are never the same afterwards, forced to see their comrades torn to shreds yet unable to die. The few ships which return from the Hollow, will sail seemingly on their own to random landmasses, with whatever, or rarely whoever was left on board.
The waters within the Abyssal Hollow have been known to move in strange ways, inverted waves pulling all that is caught in them downwards to a watery grave, or rain condensing from the ground to floats upwards. Legends also speak of fountains within housing blessed, or rather cursed, water that can reverse one’s age, a single bottle able to make someone 10 to 15 years younger. These sell for over 10 Mythril, and many nobles have sponsored expeditions in hope's of eternal life. This isn’t the only way people have tried to use the Hollow to cheat death, as some would enter the Hollow for a while, because the few that somehow leave are said to be unable to die by aging, though they can die by other means and still feel the effects of time however.
The land seems to originate from a long gone civilization, with giant pillars that seemed to try to reach the heavens, corrupted and broken. These pillars are nigh indestructible and have been simply called the Black Pillars by those that survived the journey. The Black Pillars are actually skyscrapers that have been corrupted and left in ruin inside of the Abyssal Hollow as the Unfamiliar Land doesn’t abide by the Familiar Land’s laws of time and space. It's also home to relics possessing unimaginable power from the forgotten Age of Myth, often desired by collectors and mages alike, and believed to be the main haunt of Unity. Were this land and the True Hollow to be destroyed by the The 14 Fundamentals this would result in the death of Unity, however it would also destroy much if not all of the Familiar lands as well.
