Great Europa
Regions
Great Europa is a continent and country in Familiar Lands, where many of the main characters reside.
Main government
Great Europa consist of many kingdoms with their own ruler, however they're are all under the governance of the royal family of Authority. The current king is a a Demigod of Authority called the Ivory King, or the Crown Prince. The Ivory King has to keep his entire body wrapped in bandages at all times to keep his body from falling apart, this only slows down the process as his father's sheer power can never be truly contained in a mortal vessel. He also has a selection of guards. Each of them blessed by him for their utmost loyalty, with no disobedience tolerated amongst his ranks. Gabryjel Zima was given an offer to join, but refused the offer.
Warfare between or within countries and kingdoms is common and permitted by the crown. So long as they continue to respect Authority's royal family as high king, they are permitted to dispute territories as they please.
Nations within
Carthigia is the capitol of the continent due to their strong hold on trade, most of which coming from food exports. Many parts of Great Europa have their own strong suits. Polithania is a cavalry powerhouse famed for their hussards, able to hold down the line even against Baruskian troops. Portukall is a navy powerhouse who colonised many regions outside of Great Europa, imposing a Temperance centric belief. Markden and Norvey, have their culture centered around raiding and pillaging, much to the dismay of the surrounding countries.
Foreign relations
Great Europa is currently at war with Baruska and has been for the last 10 years, feuding in Sacred Sands and in a trade war with the Jade Empire. Great Europa has many colonies throughout the Familiar Lands, from Mexiko, Zaheilo, the Southern Seas Coalitions, and one single colony in Ozutralia where they ship off criminals, and sometimes trade with the inhabitants. Great Europa has a mutually beneficial alliance with Dwarheim within the Great Below.
Culture
Honor and Chivalry are cores of Great Europa, though slowly losing its impact, it is still greatly valued, making jousting and melee the most prominent sports of Great Europa, with fans wearing their favorite team’s colors or coat of arms. Throughout Great Europa a variety of musical instruments are used for various occasions. A known holiday in Great Europa is Hollow's Win, named after Sir Win the knight. There are specialists usually consisting of bounty hunters, dishonored knights, bandits and mercenaries that prey on the knights to ransom them or sell off their equipment. However killing a knight in this land is a huge crime, for the less knights are around, the more monsters roam freely. Dragons can be found within the land, but compared to those of the U.S.L they mostly stay hidden in their lair, hoarding treasures and kidnapping princesses, often battling knights and warriors. During the late stages of the The Age of Unity with a alliance between Baruska and Jade Empire, Great Europa would create a material able to withstand the damage the orc armies brought, that of Adamantine. Adamantine is the material at the head of Great Europa manufacturing and metalworking, however it requires several rare materials, including from other nations including the Sacred Sands.
Most of the population of Great Europa is human, with Beastfolk of the regions having blood diluted enough to be mostly humanoid. The hierarchy of races has Heavenspawns and Humans at the top, with Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes just below them as humanoid races. Civilized beastfolk are one level below, while pure beastfolk and vampires are ranked even lower, unless in Vlad Athanasia’s domain. At last, all races considered feral or uncivilized like Goblins, orcs and other races are at the bottom of the hierarchy. The slave trade within Great Europa is massive, with imported slaves costing more than local ones, their value mostly based off of appearance, race and skills. Aesthetic beastfolk have been known to be bought by royalty as prized pets. However not all look down upon beastfolk, with inter-racial marriages not being unheard of, but this view is not shared by the mass majority. Many hotsprings can be found across the continent, however most are in caves, with only 2 cities having a hotspring within. Most nobles of Great Europa know not of the struggles that the people below them endure, and those who do, simply don't care, believing that there life is they were born in the right house, and must be the right people. With only the Karrotte and Potata houses diverging from this belief after seeing the suffering firsthand. There are a lot of unregistered magic users, that of apostates and witches in Great Europa, even in inquisitorial prominences. Despite this, inquisitors choose not to hunt them, instead focusing on much greater threats like the Unfamiliars and the Green Pox.
