Deep siren

Monsters

An extremely rare Unfamiliar, the Deep Siren is usually found within the deepest depths of the ocean and only surfaces when it needs something, or to perform a task, usually dragging and snatching away particular people to the ocean. The Deep Siren is a particularly evasive and sturdy Unfamiliar with excellent magical potential as well. Deep Sirens are artificially created by Hope. Like any other Greater Unfamiliars, they are created with Magic of their creator god and thus bear some resemblance to their patron as well. Though they resemble a sea creature, they could simply float on land if needed with their potent sorceries that stems from Hope's domain.

Several attempts of conversing with a Deep Siren have been made, and it has been found that they are not inherently aggressive and would try to resolve their problems and tasks diplomatically. However, they often lie, and Deep Sirens are foul creatures that are never benevolent. Witnesses say that once a tentacle is severed, it would keep moving until it is sliced to even smaller pieces or burned.

Combat Capabilities

Being a Greater Unfamiliar, a Deep Siren could potentially rival a small army alone, and they are thus worth 15 Menace Marks. It is suicide to engage a Deep Siren in water, as they move incredibly quick and could easily drown their foes if any of their tentacles touch any part of the victim’s body. The best method is to engage them is on land, where they are forced to concentrate a part of their magics into keeping themselves afloat, though this does little to diminish their effectiveness. Since this creature is used to crushing underwater pressure, thus they possess great strength, and agility.

Known to utilize magics, mostly that of Hope's domain, to a point more skilled than the highest level clerics of Hope could hope to achieve. Deep Sirens utilize enchanting spells, which they can use to turn a whole army against each other, making them incredibly dangerous. In the event where their enchantments are taking root, a good way to prevent one from losing oneself form of control is through sudden self harm. The jolt from the pain would help resist their call for a bit longer, but it will not work upon continuous use. Their most dangerous spell are concentrated water beams they can shoot with relative ease, and the pressurized water could even cut through steel armor, but it seems to be unable to pierce through adamantite armor unless they use concentrated effort. Being an Unfamiliar, their very presence would influence the mind, constantly bombarding it with telepathic suggestions and commands. Being accompanied by a Temperance Candidate is recommended when battling a Deep Siren, as the Candidate could reduce the Deep Siren’s magical potency, though they are still deadly without their magic.
