Lucien Karrotte

Background

A Heavenspawn born out of wedlock between the former Chosen Knight of Temperance Pascal Karrotte and the current Grand Inquisitor Maria Iglesias, Lucien was poised for greatness, and he certainly has the talent for it. However, the bastard was forsaken by his mother at an early age, who'd given him a burn scar on his left eye that he hides behind his hair. He was raised by his father and feels as if his presence, his birth, and his circumstances are but a curse, and he often finds himself competing against his half-sister Flayne la Karrotte for love and attention, though he still holds a friendly rivalry with her. He has also spent a few years squiring under House Potata.

Pascal tolerates him but isn't proud of him by any means, since he believes there isn’t much to be proud of, and nowadays doesn’t even expect much from Lucien. That's the thought that fuels Lucien's insecurities the most, as Lucien is poised to be heir ever since the departure of his older brother Siegfried Karrotte from House Karrotte, even though he never wanted to bear the weight of his responsibilities. Because of his Heavenspawn nature, his pride in his achievement is boosted, as well as his insecurities from his shortcomings. Despite his struggles, he has to be able to step up to the position in case the worst happens. His struggle with self-worth and lineage have led him onto a dark path often: a naive and desperate man that cannot find a proper place in the world, wanting nothing more than to be acknowledged by those he loves and respects, desiring to be comparable to Siegfried before he became the siege knight. He's pretty easy to flatter, and has a strong sense of justice despite never admitting it. Fighting a losing battle with his own take of masculinity and strength, he travels towards the same goal as Flayne, but in his own methods. The reason he started crossdressing was because he believed he had failed as a son: not given his father's body nor his mother's achievements. Eventually, Lucien chose Temugen Bataar as his bodyguard, with one reason being that he wanted to surpass Flayne by having a bigger and stronger equivalent of Sancha Gobzales.

Lucien adores all sorts of fashion he finds cute and feminine, always dressing up in "secret", though his whole house already knows. Rumors say he has seduced the whole manor, though he does it mostly as a joke. Lucien has less charisma compared to Flayne and Pascal, but commands a strange kind of loyalty to those who decide to follow him. Though he doesn't take any pride in it, he's an extremely gifted baker, skilled enough to win competitions should he choose to enter one. He blames his naturally warm hands as to why.

Powers

Without the strength of his father and a much shorter build than his mother, Lucien has taken it upon himself to rectify his weaknesses by leaning onto his strengths. Taking upon himself to learn the arts of a rapier and learning enough sorcery to incorporate it onto his combat style, his motto is to strike true and strike swiftly.

Even though he is far more talented than his sister, he lacks the fire that spur his sibling. He was not born with truesight, but through extended periods of time spent with his sister Flayne, he developed pseudo-truesight, which lets him see Unfamiliars that would be hidden to most.
