Mindslurper

Mindslurpers are heinous creatures that are gluttons for knowledge they aren't able to comprehend. They are a primordial offshoot of Vampires and would consume both blood and brain matter, much preferring the latter. One might think they would be extremely intelligent but their behavior proves completely otherwise, they simply hoard the knowledge devouring it like a true glutton; simply for it's flavor and properties. They are bestial in nature, and they cannot be reasoned with.

Combat Capabilities

Individually these creatures are worth 2 menace marks in terms of threat. But considering that Mindslurpers comes in swarms, their danger comes from sheer numbers. Individually they are easily dispatched, they do not have carapace like true vampires, conventional weapons work well and are recommended for use. Those fighting Mindslurpers are suggested to avoid facing them in open areas where they could surround and flank them; they are best kept within sight. Those that survived a feeding would have their memories stolen, a fate some would consider worse than death. They are afraid of both lavender and flames, and the Inquisition recommends carrying a censer with lavender incense burning to weaken them significantly. Lavender oil seems to be quite effective when applied to a combatant's weapon of choice.

Physically weaker than vampires, and unable to rip through plate armor; they are strong compared to humans but not to other beasts. With minimal hemomancy capabilities rarely that are dependent on the size of the Mindslurper's brain. Mindslurpers would always attempt to target the head, a sturdy helmet with equally sturdy straps to keep . They would avoid killing their target other then absorbing the brain, compared to many other creatures they are not strong enough to rip through plate armor. Mindslurpers require all of its limbs to secure it in place to completely absorb a brain, it can be assured that this does not happen and by the one grabbed to constantly stay off balance till they loosen their grip.

Spect of Knowledge

Vampires are able to consume the brains of Mindslurpers and will be granted access of the information within. Memories of people's lives, forgotten sorcery and so forth. They are often preserved and only consumed when information must be known, consuming too much of the brain would overload a vampire's psyche.

Mindslurper Proboscis

One could use a Mindslurper proboscis to write scrolls and runes using its brain matter as an ink of sorts to create especially potent scrolls that quickly transfer knowledge to the reader, though only one time. These are usually used for trade secrets or complicated spell scrolls.
