False Angels

Monsters

False Angels are the emissaries of the False Moon, bringing upon the words and influence of Fate himself throughout the realms. Their appearance signifies the start of great calamities or the ensurance for another part of Fate's grand plan to come to fruition. They are highly intelligent, able to manipulate weaker-minded folk into doing their bidding, not through psychic mental manipulation, but through words and logic alone. Even if words fail, they have their significant strength and magical prowess to fall back upon. Since their presence indicates an upcoming calamity instead of good tidings, they became known as False Angels to those who initially assumed them to be messengers of the Fundamentals.

Distorted Flesh

Occasionally, the pull of Oblivion is so strong in a certain location that it would distort reality and bring upon a shard of oblivion temporarily. These shards do not abide by the laws of physics nor the laws of space and time. These shards of another time could potentially reveal an alternate version of the area they reside in. False Angels are able to summon a distorted shards into the Familiar Lands, and as a result their presence usually indicates the start of an invasion, if not an accidental phenomena. Their flesh exists in different outcomes and possibilities, thus they can also become a catalyst for extremely dangerous and complicated spells.

Combat Capabilities

False Angels are frightening opponents that one should never try to engage, unless with the backing of a Chosen or an army, with it preferable to have both. Due to the innate power and corruptive nature of the False Angels, they are classified as a Greater Unfamiliar threat and as such are worth 15 Menace Marks. False Angels always appear for a reason, as they follow the direct orders of Fate and his foul machinations, and they would not hesitate to destroy settlements or to create legions of undead for a reason beyond mortal understanding. Physically, they are not as powerful as the other Greater Unfamiliars, though they are still capable of ripping a human apart with ease.

They possess the peak of gravity Magic; extremely dangerous and much more advanced than any learned mage. Their gravity magic makes them extremely difficult to counter, and they could easily lift a knight and crush them into a pile of flesh with no effort. They can create tiny singularities that the knights have dubbed as 'Black Holes' that would pull everything around it and explode. The best defense against these spells is to constantly apply pressure and hope that the False Angel would be distracted enough to stop casting spells. False Angels are intelligent beyond humanity and knowledgeable of events that are to come, and while they could be reasoned with, they are also capable of fully manipulating an adventurer very simply. Experienced knights have said that engaging it in a battle of wits is a good way to buy time, or as a way to survive a False Angel encounter.
