Brightwing
Monsters
Brightwings are an extremely rare type of dragon from the Age of Myth that are generally friendly in demeanor, benevolent creatures with a great sense of empathy, and now reside mostly within the Familiar Lands, possessing an innate strength of warding off Unfamiliar presences. If a brightwing is spotted nesting nearby, then a settlement would often be built within close proximity, close enough so that the brightwing's aura would protect the village as well. Brightwings are fully sentient, able to communicate and are able to assume a humanoid form as well. Since their very presence acts as a ward against strange threats, many attempts to negotiate with them for protection are made or potentially forceful imprisonment of them instead, using all of the brightwing's abilities forcefully regardless if they are harming the brightwing or not.
Bright Tears
Once a brightwing sheds a tear, it starts out as liquid but quickly crystallizes. These crystals have some of the magic brightwings have that acts as a warding against Unfamiliar presence, though the effectiveness diminishes over time. Imprisoned brightwings are often tortured so they would cry, and the resulting tears, which are often made into protective amulets for Exalted soldiers.
Bright Feathers
Bright Feathers have a variety of usages. To mages, they are used as one of the finest quills to write a spellbook with, able to retain ink very effectively as well as able to be used as an effective catalyst for enchantments and runes. Another use for them is simply for their levitational abilities, with enough Bright Feathers, one could create a cloak that could lift someone to the skies, making them essentially weightless.
