Wendigo

Monsters

There are fewer fates worse than turning into a wendigo. When a vampire is starved, whether voluntarily or by unfortunate circumstances, their mind will slowly be replaced by an endless hunger, and they will no longer thirst for blood but for flesh as well. They will never be sated, and they will hunt until they are killed. Wendigo tend to make their nests within caves atop mountains, it would seem they maintain enough intelligence to know they should not attack cities or towns directly, and rather pick out travellers and unfortunate souls outside for easier pickings.

A vampire turning into a wendigo is a slow process, their memories will become blurry, their instincts become strong, and carapace if they have any would peel off their body. There are some wendigo who remain to cling to bits and pieces of their former humanity, some could be found singing occasionally, but eventually their hunger will be permanent. Vampires abhors wendigo for they embody all they stand against and considers eliminating one as a mercy. However, a wendigo gets exponentially stronger when they consume vampires, and as such their hunt is not to be underestimated.

Combat Capabilities

Wendigo possess great strength and speed, faster than most vampires as well as far stronger, it's as if they have traded common sense and higher thinking for primordial strength and instincts. They become taller, their fingers turn slowly into sharp talons that could cut even steel, and their skin gets toughened making piercing the skin a challenge. Due to the wendigo's inherently impressive speed, and supernatural endurance, they are considered an 'A' rank Monster requiring a squad of knights or at least a seasoned veteran to handle. Depending on the age of the beast a Chosen Knight might need to interfere, as wendigo grow stronger when they are left hungry for long periods of time.

These hungry beasts do have a couple of weaknesses that one can exploit if faces in battle, fire and silver prevents them from regenerating for some time, with silver completely preventing it completely if it consumed by the wendigo, and as such it is advised for hunters to douse their blades in flames and carry powdered silver to limit a wendigo's regeneration. They also share the vampire's weakness with lavender, where the stench of them would cause confusion, and a blade drenched in lavender oil would be able to cut them with ease. If one were to crush a wendigo's skull through bludgeoning it'll swiftly die, unlike other bones which it'll slowly regeneration.

Elder Wendigo

Extremely dangerous and aggressive, an elder wendigo has been known to slaying and then consuming of knights or soldiers. Their claws have evolved to the point where they can punch through adamantite armor or even mythril. Because of it they are often rated around 7 Menace Marks
