Wallgarde
Wallgardes can be found in the frontlines, on critical chokepoints or protecting important individuals or positions. These warriors are the bulwark of Chastity, and serve as a beacon of steadfast might and unshakable morale. They understand their purpose and goals, and train specifically for them, foregoing most offensive capabilities in favor of a focus on defense. A pursuit of physical excellence only equaled by their pursuit of justice, the Wallgarde are often stationed within cities and serve as an anti-riot force or elite guards. They are also blessed with inhuman endurance that scales with one's desire to protect another. The stronger the determination, the sturdier the Wallgarde. A wealthy patron is almost required for their expansive equipment, and poorly equipped Hedge Wallgardes are also quite common.
Oathbreaking Acts
The Wallgarde can undertake more vows and oaths than other Oathsworn. These will strengthen the Wallgarde but also provide more possibilities to break them and lose the blessings altogether.
- Harming their charge directly would result in an immediate Oathbreak.
- Breaking the laws of their current domain goes against Chastity's pursuit of justice.
Tribulations
LOYAL WITHOUT QUESTION: Wallgardes cannot defy orders from their superiors, so long as it does not go against the law. There are many cases where a Wallgarde is forced into uncomfortable and cruel positions.
I WILL NOT BREAK: Selfless to a fault, the Wallgardes will always take the hits meant for others, even if it is strategically unwise.
COIN NEEDED: To be an effective Wallgarde, one must have the funds to purchase proper armor and shields. Maintenance costs must also be considered and can be quite costly.
Quirks
- Taking hostages is the easiest way to put a Wallgarde out of commission. However, if the attempt is foiled somehow, their anger would rival that of a would rival that of a Juggernaut.
- The sturdiest of Wallgardes could even deflect blades with their bare skin. Their binding oaths literally become their armor.
- Failing to protect their charge would put them into a harrowing state of depression. It is not uncommon to find these Oathsworns exiling themselves or drinking themselves to death.
